New Year’s Eve Party

We’re having a New Year’s Eve Party!

No, not a stay-up-all-night-getting-silly, ball-drop-at-midnight kind of party, but a toddler party!

Since the little ones go to bed at 7, and we want to celebrate with them this year, we’ve decided to host a New Year’s Eve toddler playdate and party that will include coloring and making our own party hats, ice cream sodas and animal crackers, and a ball drop where EVERYONE will get to drop a ball — at noon!

Sounds fun, doesn’t it?  What ideas do you have for celebrating New Year’s with kids?

That’s one of the sweetest things I’ve heard. We’ve never really gone out on New Year’s Eve since we had kids. I always felt kind of mean going out and leaving them on such an “exciting” night. We used to let them stay up late anyway. Now they’re teens and older so it’s all about keeping them safe and substance free on that night. Your idea is pretty smart, and leaves you the evening to have alone.. and that’s not a bad thing either! ;-)

Thanks for your kind comments over at fracas!

Something I learned from neighbors years ago, take pots and spoons out the front porch at 9p PST and celebrate with your toddler to the amusement of the neighbors. As childless neighbors at the time, we thought it was charming. As parents now, we do it at bedtime (8p PST now).

I like your ball drop idea - so cute!
