One of my favorite sites on the web is the Crazy Hip Blog Mamas collaborative site. Of all the moms-linking-moms sites out there, they are definitely tops in my book. Everything they do seems to be aimed at encouraging Mamas to write, to post, and to share their writings with the world. I’ve discovered some great Mama writers through CHBM, and I enjoy dropping by each week to see who’s completed the latest Writing Carnival and what they each had to say. I would like to say that I participate each week, but this late in such a difficult pregnancy, it’s hard to say whether I participate in anything reliably each week!
I’m proud to say that I am indeed one Crazy Hip Blog Mama, and have been at least since the week I started this blog. I recognized the kindred spirits over there immediately and signed up as soon as I launched this blog adventure and began to commit myself to writing again. I blog every day, or try to, and really enjoy the company of other blogging mamas. I’ve got a 2 year old little boy, and another on the way ANY DAY NOW (hint hint, time to come on out, kiddo!), so I’m definitely a mama. And as far as Crazy Hip, I have not one but two crazy hips that wiggle this way and that in my 9th month of pregnancy, as my bouncing baby-boy-to-be wobbles around on them and I try to carry him through the pain of an old pelvic/back injury.
I’d like to think that I’m also crazy hip in the fantastically cool sense, but since we’re raising our kid with old fashioned wooden toys, crafty playdates, museum trips, and stay-at-home fun like climbing in boxes and dancing with ribbon, I’m either way behind or a bit ahead of the crazy hip curve. At least I’ve found a number of kindred spirits through Crazy Hip Blog Mamas and associated blogrolls, like the Not Quite Crunchy Parent, New Dot Mom, and Limberlime. Parenting is such a fascinating pursuit, I believe … and there’s no reason in the world it should be a lonely one.
P.S. Although this writing prompt is also a contest, I’m pretty happy with my blog template and my hosting service, so I’m participating just for fun. I’m just sayin’.
