Since the baby dropped, the pain has intensified. On the bright side, the baby is physically lower in my belly, freeing up my stomach for actual human-size portions of food … even dessert, or seconds! Without heartburn! For the first time in weeks! That’s been a fantastic change.
What that also means, however, is that the baby is now sitting so low on my pelvis that there is constant pain in one or both sides of my pelvis, as well as my back. When he kicks, he often kicks an area of pain, which I have to say is NOT delightful.
Widget has enjoyed having his grandparents here again this week, but he’s starting to act out a bit, so we’re stepping up discipline for the little guy. Tantrums are rarely acknowledged, and we’re getting sterner about him staying in his big boy bed at night. As much as he wants to sleep in the big boy bed, he just doesn’t want to stay there. Even with his new best friend Sam-I-Am!
He’s enjoying his new-found freedom in his new room, and while I appreciate that, I also would like him to start going back to sleep like he used to … quick and easy, after 3 books and a song! And oh, for an uninterrupted night’s sleep. Between the lovely effects of late pregnancy and his getting up in the middle of the night, I’m just not sleeping much. All in prep for Whybaby’s arrival, I’m sure, but it’s making the days take even longer. We sure are looking forward to the baby coming, when he’s ready and we’re ready.
We spent yesterday at the hospital again, but came home without a baby. A very good result, actually. After hours and hours of contractions 10-15 minutes apart, I finally agreed to go and be checked out. But we’re still a day shy of 36 weeks, and I was so relieved that the diagnosis was NOT labor, just shifting pain. I will be forever grateful if this baby makes it to term (37 weeks) and arrives without any major problems. Forever grateful. And that’s a promise.
P.S. Looks like HalloweenLover over at Lots And Lots of Nonsense is having contractions (but no baby) too! Hop on over there and share the love if you’re so inclined ….
