Autism Research

The National Academies’ Insitute of Medicine is hosting a workshop downtown this week on the future of autism research and the potential effects of an array of environmental exposures.  There will be a publicly available workshop summary, but you (parents of kids on the spectrum and/or advocates for same) can view the workshop via webcast Wednesday and Thursday if you have the time and inclination.  There’s also a new book coming out called Vaccinated! that the Parent Blogging Network will be reviewing next month — stay tuned!

You can always find out the latest activities of the National Academies online at http://www.nationalacademies.org/onpi/email/whatsnew.html or via their weekly email (available from the same site).  Tops on the list for last week was the Day Care study released by the National Institutes of Health.
